We have some exciting hands-on volunteer opportunities coming up in the next few months for those of you that want to get directly involved with the youth or adults in our programs. In addition, we have opportunities available for administrative work here at the Urban League office in Uptown Charlotte. Please take some time to review the opportunities listed below and contact the appropriate program coordinator if interested. Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community!

IMMEDIATE NEED: Receptionist & Front Desk Administrator
- Description: Volunteer will answer phones, greet visitors, coordinate lobby activity, and help with various administrative tasks for staff.
- Available Hours : Weekdays, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (flexible shifts based on individual schedule).
Needed: Facilitators/Proctors
- Description: Volunteer will administer Entrance Test at Urban League to Computer Program Applicants, score test and make follow-up calls to participants.
- # of Volunteers Needed: 2 volunteers per week (1 for each day)
- Time : Every Tuesday & Thursday, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm.
Needed: Administrative Adult Program Assistants
- Description: Business planning, coordination with outside agencies, data collection, data entry & analysis, student alumni follow-up.
- # of Volunteers Needed: 1 volunteer per day for 3 days a week
- Time: 3 days a week, 2 hours a day (flexible – some could be done from home).
Needed: Assistant Teachers in Adult Computer Classes
- Description: Assist Computer Instructor in helping students with computer questions and programs.
- # of Volunteers Needed: 2 volunteers, 5 days per week.
- Time: 8:30 – 11:15 am
Needed: Basic Math & English Tutors
- Description: Assist students in the adult PBSTC class with basic Math & English questions.
- # of Volunteers Needed: 2 volunteers per class, 2 days a week
- Time: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Needed: Tutors
- Description: Assist students in the adult BASE class with very basic Math & English skills.
- # of Volunteers Needed: 1 volunteer per class, 4 days a week
- Time: Monday – Thursday, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Needed: Proofreaders & Mock Interviewers
- Description: Proofread resumes, assist in posting resumes to job search engines. Perform mock interviews with current PBSTC students.
- # of Volunteers Needed: 1 volunteer, 2 days a week.
- Time: 2 days a week for 2 hours (flexible)
Needed: Photographers for PEP Graduations
- Description: Take photographs of students receiving diplomas & awards and of speakers.
- # of Volunteers Needed: 1 volunteer per graduation
- Time: 11:00 am – 2:00 pm 4 times per year (dates TBD)
Needed: Computer Lab Monitors
- Description: Assist walk-in users of new self-paced, voice-activated software. Some participants will be bilingual so bilingual skills are a plus.
- # of Volunteers Needed: 2 volunteers per night, 2-3 nights a week
- Time: 6:30 – 9:00 pm, days of week TBD (Saturdays & Sundays are a possibility)

Needed: Youth Program Assistants
- Description: Volunteers will work with children at the Urban League and Youth Centers to help tutor, assist teachers, coordinate snacks, provide cooking classes, and/or help educate children on healthy eating and nutrition.
Needed: Administrative Youth Assistant
- Description: Assist Youth Manager at UL office in program coordination, statistical analysis, and creation of promotional materials
- # of Volunteers Needed: 1 student, 5 days a week (can be different volunteers each day)
Time: Flexible during the hours of 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

Description: Misc. needs depending on event including registration, greeters, set-up, break- down, callers, etc.

Description: Assist Membership Coordinator in creating promotional materials, making follow-up calls, sending out letters and data entry.
# of Volunteers Needed: 1 volunteer, 3 days a week (can be different volunteers each day)
Time: Flexible during the hours of 10:00 to 6:00 pm
- Needed: Credit Workshop Volunteers
Description: Assist Credit Workshop Coordinator in class workshops and data entry.
# of Volunteers Needed: 5 volunteers, every 3rd Saturday
Time: Flexible during the hours of 8:00am-1:00pm
- Needed: Office Assistant Volunteer
Description: Assist in pre-workshop duties
# of Volunteers Needed: up to 5 volunteers, during the week
Time: Varies depending on individual schedule

- Remember that if you are a part of, or would like to join, one of our very active auxiliary groups, the Young Professionals meet the 1st Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at various locations and the Guild meets every 3rd Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the UL office.
