We have some exciting volunteer opportunities. Please take some time to review the opportunities listed below and contact the appropriate program coordinator if interested. Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community!

All volunteers must complete and submit the volunteer application below. When volunteer opportunities become available, you'll be notified via email. In addition, you are welcome to contact the designated person about specific opportunities that are listed below. We can accommodate many schedules. The times indicated for specific volunteer assignments can be divided into shorter or longer shifts, depending on your schedule.

Adult Program Volunteers

Program Coaches establish trusting relationships through one-on-one sessions to enhance job readiness, job search and retention. Serve as classroom instructional support assisting lead instructor to create a positive, engaged classroom. Provide follow-up support to graduates regarding job placement, retention issues, and career development.
 
Program Interviewers conduct intake interviews to assess non-cognitive and cognitive barriers and determine ULCC placement and/or make referrals. Conduct client behavior based interviews to ensure participants demonstrate essential interviewee techniques and resume/cover letter is appropriately prepared. 
 
Program Assistants provide various administrative support activities for marketing, programs and development departments including data input, filing, staffing front desk, etc, as assigned. Additionally, provide logistics support for various ULCC events such as annual Whitney M. Young Gala, Dr. Charles Sifford Golf tournament, Job Fairs and other community programs and events.

 

Special Event & Membership Volunteers

Special Events Volunteers - varies depending on event. Assignments include registration, greeters, set-up, break- down, callers, etc. At least ten (10) volunteers are needed for events including Annual Urban League Guild Golf Tournament (September), Annual Meeting & Membership/Volunteer Reception (November) and Annual Whitney M.
