Urban League of Central Carolinas (ULCC) is proud to announce the appointment of Tinzelow (Ty) Baldwin as the new Director of Vocational Trades. Baldwin brings a wealth of experience to the role as a licensed HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and general contractor, and owner of Mr. Charlotte Comfort.

As Director of Vocational Trades, Baldwin will oversee the development and implementation of all vocational training programs and work closely with industry partners, employers, and other stakeholders to identify current and future skill requirements to continuously update our programs to align with demand. In addition, Baldwin designed and teaches the curriculum for ULCC’s popular 13-week HVAC course that has helped numerous students launch successful careers.

“We are so fortunate to have someone with the level of expertise that Ty embodies leading our vocational trades programs,” said Robyn Lake Hamilton, interim president, and CEO of Urban League of Central Carolinas. “His wealth of experience in the trades, combined with his passion for teaching and helping others succeed, made him the perfect fit for this role. The HVAC certification pass rate has increased tremendously under his leadership and we look forward to seeing how he will help shape the future of vocational trades .”

Baldwin is excited to take on this new role and is committed to helping ULCC continue to provide top-quality vocational training programs to the community. “I am honored to be the new Director of Vocational Trades and look forward to working with our talented team to build on the success of our programs,” said Baldwin. “My goal is to prepare students by teaching real-world, practical applications beyond the book to ensure they are valuable assets to employers from day one.”
