Project Ready RISE

An education that opens young minds to a world of possibilities is a fundamental human right.

All Project Ready programs share fundamental goals and national program standards to target various program areas, specific age groups, career interests, and academic opportunities.

That National Urban League has developed several innovative program enhancements based on the core Project Ready: Postsecondary Success model, including:

  • Middle School Transitions
  • College and Career Readiness
  • Mentorships
  • Historical & Cultural Awareness
  • Steam (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts/Agriculture & Math)
  • Financial Empowerment
  • Service Leadership and Learning

Youth & Young Adult Programs

  • Virtual Learning Academy: The Urban League of Central Carolinas (ULCC) partnered with the Steve Smith Family Foundation and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to create a virtual learning academy for homeless and underserved students attending Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS).
  • First Day Ready: Yearly back-to-school event that will include activities for the entire family and ensure elementary school children have the supplies and resources they need to succeed in school on day one.
  • Summer Banking Institute (SBI): A six-week paid internship in partnership with U.S. Bank that exposes rising high school seniors to non-traditional banking roles at U. S. Bank.

Our Focus

Connecting with students that are recommended by social workers, counselors, career development coordinators, and family advocates in surrounding school districts ( CMS, Gaston, Union, Rowan-Cabarrus, etc.)
