WTB Initiative

Working Women, Thriving Families, and Better Communities Initiative

Providing Resources to Our Community.

The Problem: The gender wage gap is one of the most persistent and pervasive economic problems facing our nation. The pandemic has further exacerbated the employment and earnings divide between women and men. Black women face an unemployment rate of 16.4% whereas the rate for women overall is 15.5%.

The Solution: The decisive element of differentiation with this WTB Initiative is that with the additional key team, the partnership pipeline, and the core personnel at the Urban League, the ability to place women in livable wage careers and work to remove barriers with strategic partners for women and their families will provide the full continuum needed to move from receiving a service (transactional) to also being afforded and equipped with the opportunity and access to human and social capital in the areas of need for transformational outcomes.

Financial Support

While we look forward to starting somewhere, providing virtual learning support for a small number of children, we also realize the number will pale in comparison to the nearly 5,000 homeless children in the CMS system that will need daily access to services and assistance. It is for this reason we are counting on our community to help us support the remaining 4,965 students that need and deserve assistance. Your financial support will help us broaden our reach and impact by covering the cost for expenses to include workspace, instruction, meals, school supplies, PPE, cleaning materials and thermometers, and transportation.
